Forget about the food for a minute. Which we've already established is ****. Has anyone had a success story pre requesting kosher wine or Champagne from CX or QF... Or others too...?

No, That's not the point, I won't fly an airline for its KSML, my complaint about KSML is in general.

If an airline serves a good KSML, I wouldn't feel the need on bringing along my own KSML from POM for example, which is a shlep, even though the POM meal is better, I'm not that spoiled.
if i fly a longhaul flight with a terrible KSML, I definitely will have to come up with a plan

and I'm the type of guy who'd rather rely on airline KSML than shlepping a truck load of KSML, unless I'm doing a honeymoon or something, as is the case for my BOB trip next month.

I'd easily trade flying light with only a backpack and not having to worry about packing, shlepping, freezing KSML from one country to another.

And I'm saying the vast majority of KSML is crap. So, unless you're gaunrateed Hermolis, or meals of its ilk, you either bring, fly Asian F, or stay home.

Private room does (so they told me a few years ago) but they need 24 hours notice. Not sure where to call.

They told us "officially we don't heat up your food" but because we don't have the KSML...

I did get KSML but was stinky rolls had moldy already
and they had no issue with warming up my pre packed food

An interesting tidbit:

I booked two businessFirst tickets from NYC to Vancouver using United Plan B, less than 24 hours before the flight. I made sure to request KSML. After we boarded the plane we over heard the flight attendants talking about the fact that they saw that they were supposed to have two KSMLs but for some reason they didn't have it (big surprise

. After hearing them discuss that they didn't know what to do, because this would mean that we would have nothing to eat for 6+ hours (!), thry came to us and told us what was going on and that it would take 45 minutes for a meal to be brought, and would we want them to hold up the flight. They actually offerd to delay the flight for 45 minutes so we could get our meal. When we said that we wouldn't feel right doing that to all the other passengers and that we would manage, they were extremely grateful.
When the flight attendants came around to take meal orders from the other passengers they came to us also and asked what we were going to have. Surprised, I repeated that we couldn't have anything. She looked at us in complete shock and said, "You mean that you're really not going to eat anything for 6 hours?". (They were completely unable to relate to such a concept). She then offered us unlimited snacks from everything that they offered for sale.
