United follows Delta and AA in serving Free meals, however only to economy+ passengers on flights between JFK/EWR-LAX/SFO and More

Alot of Details in this article:

https://www.inc.com/chris-matyszczyk/united-airlines-is-going-to-start-serving-free-hot-food-to-economy-passengers-bu.html

Hopefully more airlines (JetBlue and Alaska/Virgin ) will soon follow.

ETA:
AA has also been serving meals since May 1st.
United will be serving only to economy+

I'm aware. I was giving examples of which destination airports currently offer meals. Whether Delta, AA or United.

On OS JFK-TLV in J they served Weiss. First they brought out a "snack"which was a roll with deli

Almost immediately afterwards they brought out the meal which was a corn salad with cold grilled chicken on top and a hot pan of roast beef with bowties broccoli and carrots. I found it to be very good by KSML standards.

Breakfast was a bagel and an omelet with potatoes

If only more airlines would switch to Weiss from Borenstein. Meals look decent.

An exception to this would be Jetblue Mint, which serves a generous multiple course Borenstein meal.

I don't know much, or anything about Borenstein, but I did meet the owner of Weiss at a catered getaway several years ago, and would definitely trust him from a Kashrus standpoint.

That being said...

I think Weiss packaging leaves something to be desired. Notice how the cutlery is heavily wrapped with stretch wrap. I've had that one before, and it was quite a challenge to open the wrapping (which IIRC was even on disposable cutlery!)

Also, I think it would be wiser (pun intended) if at least some of the meal would be pareve, as someone who wouldn't want to eat fleishig wouldn't find much to eat in this meal.

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I fully agree about the packaging. The flight attendants brought me a scissors.

Someone needs to tell Weiss about heat seal bags, it will probably even save them time and money in the long run, and avoid these kinds of problems. They are Chassidish, so I guess no website, fb, or anything of the sort. Borenstein is owned by ELAL (enough said?), found this FB page with an interesting interaction between the a retired CEO of Borenstein and an ELAL pilot.
