Starwood cash and points availability

I was thinking of going to a hotel in a few months from now and there is no availability w cash and points is there any way that if I call SPG they can do something for me?
I am an SPG Gold member if that helps.

Very often if you ask SPG to call the hotel they can get it through even if it doesn't show available. I just did it at the Stamford Sheraton.

I just tried two times and both representives said that they can't do that....
Then one said u should call the hotel and see if u can do it......
Do u think I have a shot? The day before I want to go and the day after they have availability but the days I want to go they don't!!
