Each Prime account can have 4 additional family members associated with it.
Amazon adds bennies to prime accounts so this list may change - feel free to update the wiki if you discover new information.

To add yourself to an account: You need to provide the original member with your name, email and month/date of birth.  Do this via PM.
The member will respond back with the info you need to complete your signup.

When signing up with someone, make sure you know how long the prime membership will last first, to avoid any misunderstandings.

As always, exercise caution when dealing with strangers on the internet

You may also want to check if Amazon charges tax in your state before you make up a price.  >:(

Split the main prime membership with your siblings and cousins. You share passwords and just need to remember to charge the correct cc and ship to the correct address. This way you can all use the video streaming also.  (privacy alert)

Even for current accounts

Some on SD have been told by amazon reps that as long as you do not remove members of your household, they will be grandfathered in. Fingers crossed!

Darn. Does this apply if I renew my prime membership after it expires. Will the shared accounts still be grandfathered in?

Traditionally, one of the many perks of being an Amazon Prime subscriber is being able to share your free 2-day shipping benefits with up to four other adults. Although the perk was never promoted by Amazon, it was there for all Prime members to take advantage of.

However, those days are over because a new Amazon policy now limits the amount of adults you can share your shipping benefits with.

Amazon Households Will Limit Sharing

According to this new policy change — enacted on August 1, going by the name "Amazon Households" — Prime members can only share their shipping perks with two adults (and up to four children). It also appears Amazon doesn't want you sharing Prime with roommates or friends because now when two adults share a Household account, they will be allowed to copy each other's credit and debit card information to make purchases.

Per the new policy: "each adult will be able to copy the credit and debit cards of the other account to his or her Amazon account and use them for purchases with Amazon." That's probably fine for most spouses, but not something you'd necessarily want to share with your roommate or friend.

Existing Accounts With Sharing Will Be Grandfathered In

Fortunately, there is some good news. It appears that anyone who subscribed to Prime prior to August 1 and is already sharing their account with four adults will be grandfathered into the old terms and conditions (unless you manually drop someone). Anyone else who tries to share their Prime perks with more than two adults will see Amazon's new policy.

Readers, have any of you encountered this new messaging while changing settings to your Prime account? Are you less likely to purchase a new subscription with this new policy?

A little unrelated, but I have over $500 in my amazon balance that I don't really have use for now and would like to liquidate it. If anyone needs anything on amazon, PM me and I'll buy it and have it shipped it to you for a 10% discount.

If anyone is interested in getting their own Prime membership for $65 (instead of $99) which they can then split with others, please contact me.

I bought the Fire Phone, but have no need for the Prime membership

Thank you

I have a few years of prime that I bought to lock in the $79. If I apply them to my account, will the people I've shared with get grandfathered in with the old settings?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

My prime auto renewed last week and all 4 people in my "household" were in fact grandfathered in. As to whether they will again next year, we will have to wait and see.

Just make sure your autorenew is on and your cc on file for prime is valid. Using the prebought $79 "gift" primes is no longer possible without permanently losing the 4 members of your household, as the only way to apply those is to allow your prime to expire first. Once you do this, you WILL NOT be able to read 4 people to share with.

Haven't touched my setting and got this. Hope this isn't Amazon's way of kicking off the grandfathered plans... anyone else get this?
