Original member gets the shipping upgrades, videos, Amazon Mom & lending library.
Additional members get shipping upgrades only.
Each Prime account can have 4 additional family members associated with it.
Amazon adds bennies to prime accounts so this list may change - feel free to update the wiki if you discover new information.

To add yourself to an account: You need to provide the original member with your name, email and month/date of birth.  Do this via PM.
The member will respond back with the info you need to complete your signup.

When signing up with someone, make sure you know how long the prime membership will last first, to avoid any misunderstandings.

As always, exercise caution when dealing with strangers on the internet

You may also want to check if Amazon charges tax in your state before you make up a price.  >:(

henche's family method
Split the main prime membership with your siblings and cousins. You share passwords and just need to remember to charge the correct cc and ship to the correct address. This way you can all use the video streaming also.  (privacy alert)

If someone shares your prime, do you only share the 2 day shipping part?
That is officially the only thing that is "sharable".  There is a way, however, to share or give the kindle books benefit by using a different email for the kindle than for the shipping Prime.  IDK if that goes for the movies, as well.

MOM Prime has a 3 month free trial and Student Prime has a 6 month free trial, both of which you can not get once you have ever had prime (including sharing according to the CSR).  It may be worth signing up to share prime only after trial ends for those who have never had.

I have 3 slots, ending 3/18/15. $15 each, paid by Paypal personal payments.

I intend to lock in the $79+tax rate for next year as well, so you'd get first dibs on being part of the group next year at the same price.
I've now locked in for the renewal, so the $15 gets you a slot through 3/18/15, then first dibs on another slot at the same price through 3/18/16.

3 slots still available.

I think Amazon goofed.  The only difference between Amazon Prime and Amazon Mom was suppose to be that Amazon Prime you can officially share outside of household and Amazon Mom gets you additional discounts, but you can not officially share outside of household.

I just found this:   "During the free period, Amazon Mom members do not have access to all of the benefits that a paid Prime membership provides, including access to Prime Instant Video after the initial 30-day trial, the ability to share shipping benefits and access to the Kindle Owners' Lending Library."
That means that after the 3 month trial of Amazon Mom the ability to share shipping benefits will begin!

Based on this, Amazon Mom has everything that Amazon Prime has PLUS the additional discounts.  If that were the case, no one should ever sign up for Prime, only Amazon Mom.  I think they goofed.

Updated understandings:
1.  Amazon is really confused!  More discrepancies.  No wonder we are having a hard time.
2.  Amazon Mom used to be a free add-on membership to your existing Amazon Prime, but now costs $39. You can find      Amazon pages stating EITHER free or $39. Sign up button is only $39.
3.  Amazon Prime is $79/yr going up to $99/yr tomorrow, shipping can be shared.  Can lock in $79 with GC.
4.  Amazon Mom is $39/yr going up to $50/yr tomorrow with exact same benefits as Amazon Prime plus extra discounts for primary member only, but officially can not be shared.  Can not give GC.
5.  Members have reported sharing Amazon Mom.

BOTTOM LINE:  Safest to share Amazon Prime for only shipping unless you become primary on Amazon Prime for the movie/Kindle benefits or pay ~$25/yr more for being primary on Amazon Mom for movie/Kindle benefits plus discounts.
(Cheapest to be Amazon Mom primary and YMMV share.)

I think you may be confused. The $39 you are seeing sounds like maybe you have/had prime student on your account at some point?

I just went to the mom pae and saw "You may cancel your membership at anytime and end your Amazon Mom benefits immediately. Please note that if you cancel your Prime membership, you will no longer be eligible to receive the additional Amazon Mom discounts on Subscribe & Save items, though you may continue to get other deals and discounts associated with the Amazon Mom program."

So the mom 20% off benefits are only if you also have prime, but if you sign up for mom (which automatically signs you up for a trial of prime as well) and then you cancel the prime portion, you lose the 20% discounts, but are eligible for other Mom benfits (I dont know what these would be, maybe certain coupons or promos?).

Has anyone gotten this message when trying to accept Amazon's email invite to share someone's Amazon Prime?   "Due to a technical issue, we are unable to subscribe you for this invitation. Please contact customer service for assistance."

I gave no identifying info when I spoke to CSR, but she said that it sounds like I do not have the same address as the primary member and that in order to share Amazon Prime we need to be in the same household.  Of course I didn't say, "but...."

]Is this a guessing CSR or could they possible have become more stringent starting 3/20?
How do the rest of you do it?

Are you selling or buying?  If selling: at what price? what dates?
If buying, look above your post for those selling.

You can pm (private message) someone on these forums by clicking on their name.  Then, on their page, on the left wall look for actions 'send private message'.
No need to give your real email in your post.

If you get a pm, you'll get an email notification (you can change your settings in your account)  [and you'll see a symbol next to 'messages' in the navigation bar along the op of this page].

Just wanted to put this out there.

Use caution when splitting Prime (especially with new members that no one knows). I have been contacted by a member who tried splitting with someone new and the person took the money and ran.
As always, use common sense when dealing with strangers, especially online.
