Post a pic of the bottom of the computer, I'll walk you through it if you want.
First step either way would be to run dell diagnostics. When you turn on the laptop press f12 for boot menu' then select hardware diagnostics and let it run.

[Quote for 2/20] I have a new Dell Inspiron 15z from the recent deal. I have been getting the BSOD recently with this message "driver irql not less or equal tcpip.sys". I have Goggled and read up, however being a tech n00b I have no idea whats wrong. I'd appreciate all help.[End quote]

It hasn't happened since 2/20, today the message came on with the BSOD. Then some flashing screens, and then my computer asked me to restore to an earlier time when Windows was working. When I clicked OK it started "attempting repairs" and is still doing so for the past 30 min.

What do I do? Is my computer screwed? Its pretty new, will Dell send out a new one? I'm lost without it, I need it for work?

Thanks for you offer. I am not in Brooklyn, however I spend Shabbos there quite often so I may take you up on it, or just buy a drink to thank you for all your help.

I did something called "refresh" it was recommended to me by my computer. It rested to factory settings, deleted all programs and apps I had installed but didn't touch my files. It was a PITA but could have been worse. Thanks to DH ans ninite I am almost finished restoring my programs.

I did a basic hardware diagnostics and it passed, I don't have tie to do the full one (computer said up to 30 min). Everything passed, I will do the full scan tonight.

Here is to hoping that the problem is gone, and won't  reoccur. If it happens again, how do I get Dell to send me new RAM?

I had that 2 days ago for most of the day, yesterday it worked at the end of the day. Most of the time it works flawlessly (maybe the same Website maintenance as chase website ;) )

I finally got through. I'm chatting now. What should I ask for?

He asked what security software I'm using. I have Avast and malware bytes, also mcafee came pre installed. He said its recommended to only have 1 and is uninstalling both avast and malware bytes. I have no idea what either of those programs do, I'm a noob I know. Does this make any sense?

The tech then booted in safe mode and the connection broke. He's gone what do I do now?

Thanks again for all your help to me and the rest of the DDF family. I would write my thanks profusely in each post, but it would disrupt the conversation.

The tech called me and said the issue was from multiple anti-virus and it caused a conflict. I said that wouldn't cause a blue screen and oral tcpip.sys error. He said if it happens again I should contact them again.

Do I just not use any AV? Is it a load of bull?

After 2 hours we left off that I should use the computer without antivirus for a few days. They will contact me next week and see if the issue was fixed.

Here is the message I get when I turn on my computer "Error loading operating systrem" any ideas? Is it a dead hard drive?

This happened after my computer froze I then got a blue screen, when i turned my computer back on I got that message.

On top of all this Dropbox has been down for the last 19 Hours!!! So I can't even access my files from my wifes computer.

90% Bad HD IME. If important data try to recover asap. If not you can try connecting it to other computer via USB
