US Air Customer Service
« on: January 27, 2013, 12:00:32 AM »
I flew US Air last week.  Paid for a choice seat ($25 per seat) as they told me there weren't 2 seats near each other that were available, and I really wanted a window seat.  Spoke to rep to confirm seat choices and why I wanted them.  Got on plane and row where I was sitting didn't have a window!  Then the guy sitting in the aisle seat came.  He did not fit into one seat, had to lift hand rest to sit.  I wrote them an email asking compensation for having to share the seat and for refund for choice seat as there was no window.

They basically responded there was nothing they could do.

Any suggestions?

US CS is close to nothing, but they also have lots of mixed info, so u could try HUCA.

They won't actually listen to me on the phone, they will only take complaints via e-mail.

In the case, i wouldn't expect much better from us.

Why not just dispute the charge?

Was also trying to get compensation for the seat we had to share with the other gentleman.  Guess I will just dispute that as well.

Airlines do not usually compensate you for having to sit next to a large man. The best way to get any compensation is to go over to the purser while on board or to the check in counter and inform them of the situation.Keep in mind that you should be sensitive as it is a delicate situation. The crew will usually try to find you empty seats or I have heard of the airline issuing bonus award miles.

If i understand correctly, in this case there were the only two empty seats, so they couldn't just relocate the middle person to anywhere else, because extra money was paid to sit together.

I understand that this is a sensitive issue thats why we couldn't tell the flight attendants we were having an issue, as it would've been said over the guys head.  The flight was a pretty full flight, so I didnt think they would have any other seats for us.  I couldn't tell them at the check in counter as I didn't know I would have this problem.
