Anyone have experience with medical insurance for american gong to israel for elderly person?

I've used Amex Travel for cheap medical and collected on it too, but that is only up to 60 days.

For longer trips, what do people do? Medicare covers nothing there as far as i know.

What about Medicare supplement plan F?

ETA: it seems like it's being phased out, with plan G being the alternative. I didn't check whether plan G covers anything internationally.

https://www.medicare.gov/supplements-other-insurance/medigap-travel

I've no real idea, but a quick search shows it covers only if issue begins within 60 days.

When I was looking for travel insurance for my FIL to come to the US, I came across hmrv.de that seems to have one plan that they sell to residents of any country without age limit.

Thanks, at first glance it looks like they are saying it's only for Germans, but will check out.

Any other ideas are welcome

the plan excludes preexisiting which wouldn't be acceptable in our case

When do we not provide cover?– for treatments...
were due to an illness that already had been medically diagnosed when the journey started..

I might be mistaken, but at least some of the plans that don't cover pre-existing, will cover it for medical repatriation.

Also, if the person has coverage in the US, there might be travel medical insurance that will cover even pre-existing conditions. PM sent.

For non-US residents, I know of a policy that covers up to $3,500. Can't think of something offhand from the US. Though he might want to check if his homeowner's insurance might offer some kind of coverage for this.

Some info here for travel originating in the US, but it might be outdated.

Outside of NY, possibly. Though there might be some exclusions.

Most companies have insurance plans with CFAR or CFAR options. It generally only reimburses 50-75% of expenses if CFAR is invoked. Also, you generally need to pay for all prepaid expenses within a specified time period.

I can speak from my own personal experience.

Background:  Live in FL (This is important because some states restrict which policies can be sold), have pre-existing condition, and probably end up cancelling at least 1/3 of all trips that I have booked for health reasons.  All of my claims have been paid although it requires a cumbersome and time consuming process to submit all the documents and support.

For the past 10+ years, I have used Steve Dasseos who owns tripinsurancestore.com (I have no affiliation).  He is located out West and deals with clients all over the country.  I like Steve because he sells whichever insurance carrier is cheapest for your particular needs (not locked into one carrier) and also only uses companies that have a proven track record of paying out their claims.

As a general rule, the basic policies cost 6% of total trip cost and Cancel For Any Reason - CFAR (75% reimbursement) cost 8% of total trip cost.

I hope this helps and doesn't break any forum rules by posting his name & company.

If place of residence is not the US (even if US citizen) then BUPA is an excellent option (only available until 6/30. Can be purchased at insurance4trip.com

Where can I buy a travel insurance policy for a group of 25+ people traveling from USA to Italy, that will cover up to $90,000 of prepaid hotel & flights expenses if cancelled due to the border re-shutting to Americans due to Covid?
