I use allianz all the time.
I put in my USA address and the checks come to that address.

But you're actually in Israel?  Never any problems with this?

I'm not too familiar with US plans -- are they generally more comprehensive/less bureaucracy than Israeli plans?

Would u know if I'd be able to get it without being a citizen? Otherwise I might try meuhedet now or my American TA.

Best thing to do would be call.  They answer very quickly. *9912

Called meuhedet for my wife and myself is free. Baby is 25 shekel. Pretty much a no brainer, unless I have to start dealing with them. Maybe I'll also do a cheap american for backup.

I have no problem putting in my american address as well, but I'm worried they'll deny coverage if they see I flew from Israel and back to Israel.

This is my exact concern -- would love to see data points.

I'm trying to file a claim with my secondary travel insurance company.
They want proof we were denied by my primary health care provider.
When I call united healthcare community plan in NY they don't know how I am to get a "letter of denial" (as overseas travel is not covered)
After going round and round I was given an address to mail my claim and see what happens.

Any advise

You have to submit a claim. You will likely get an EOB saying it was denied (though officially if it was an emergency it might actually be covered). That will be your denial letter.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Was scheduled to fly EWR-PBI, flight was cancelled, booked a last minute ticket PHL-PBI. 2 expenses were incurred.

1) 40k AA +around $175 in fees

2) Approximately $175 for the taxi from EWR-PHL

I have Allianz travel insurance, and trip was paid for on the sapphire reserve.

Any shot at getting anything reimbursed?

You need to read the T&C of whatever coverage you had for the EWR-PBI flight. I doubt you are covered for more than the price of that ticket, but I might be wrong. In any event, please do report back after you file claims.

So, this would be filed under trip cancellation? Or trip interruption?

Trip interruption is when something happens AFTER the trip started (though that might mean after you took a taxi or other means of transportation to go to the airport). If your entire "trip" was a one way ticket, this is cancellation.

round trip - so I will file under interruption.

If this is your return leg, then definitely interruption.

Did cancellation occur before you left home? Was the original ticket a RT or two one-ways? What happened with your return?

In any event, you can definitely call the claims department of the coverage you have, and ask them based on your complete set of circumstances.

any harm in just filing? as opposed to calling and asking first?

Sounds like interruption to me. But I would suggest you call. You might save yourself time and effort of having to file again, by getting it right the first time around. Would have probably been best to call Allianz right then and there from the airport when flight was cancelled, they might have directed you as to what to do.
