Sounds like interruption to me. But I would suggest you call. You might save yourself time and effort of having to file again, by getting it right the first time around. Would have probably been best to call Allianz right then and there from the airport when flight was cancelled, they might have directed you as to what to do.
I was paying for it regardless, so did not matter at the time - also it was in middle of the storm, flight was departing in 2 hours and I was in newark:) so not too much time to play with.

any harm in just filing? as opposed to calling and asking first?
If you file a claim it could take weeks or months until you get it resolved, and there might be a lot of back and forth with what you are  claiming for, documentation, etc. You'll probably save a lot of time if you call and see what they advise in terms of what to claim and what documentation to send.

(Speaking from experience with other companies)
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Please report back. Just curious, did you purchase this insurance on Jetblue's website while booking?

Yes.
Ah. I usually decline that insurance and shop for insurance on Squaremouth. That way, I can compare policies and see exactly what I'm getting. More recently, I use travelinsured with a 33% discount for USAA Members. They cover the cost for points restoration into accounts, too.

Is having a USAA Bank account with a USAA number sufficient, or does one need full USAA membership? (or none at all  ;))
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

USAA member seems to be enough. Click through USAA. 33% discount should be applied.

Israel has its own unique travel insurance plans. I'd say shop around, often through your Kupat Cholim, Travel Agent, or some do online (there's one called Passport).

For example, in the US it's very difficult or close to impossible to get travel insurance for an elderly person, while in Israel it's readily available.

If you have Mehudet C and your under 26 you can get free travel insurance.

Are there any credit cards that have a benefit of medical travel insurance?

If you're going for under a month, you can get a plan that covers you for $100,000 of medical insurance for $19 (assuming your non-refundable trip cost is up to $500). I used this for my daughters who went to camp in Canada. Key is to leave the "trip cost" at $500 or less.

IINM this doesn't work for Florida residents (i.e. at those rates), but other states I randomly checked were OK.

Depends what reason you're cancelling under. Some reasons only qualify if it's within 21 days of booking. Use squaremouth to compare. It shows you all the details.
