You need to look at each policy. I purchased an Alliance policy that included pregnancy. I purchased it www.travelinsurance.com

Thanks, do you remember which policy it was? (basic, prime or premier?)

Thanks, but since pregnancy is a pre-existing condition it might need different coverage than an emergency surgery

I thought he was talking about trip cancellation insurance, ie if his wife gets pregnant and wants to cancel the trip.

Yes, that's what I was asking about. But actually looking for something that will cover medical expenses if something comes up

Thanks, all I see is basic, prime, or premier options. Was your wife pregnant during the trip? Looking for a policy that will cover someone who is pregnant during the trip.

At the time of purchasing the insurance, is your wife pregnant?

I used travel guard when I traveled while my wife was pregnant. They then told me they will cover everything as long as I leave the country without any issues in the pregnancy, and I'm not going intentionally to have the baby on foreign soil. If your only concerned about medical coverage (like I was) they have a cheap policy called MedEvac.

Thanks a lot, will look into it. I guess I will get a letter from my Dr. clearing me for travel so that I can prove that if need be.

Just make sure pre existing conditions are covered. Many will sell it as long as it's 21 days before travel.

I called a few companies (allianz, travel guard) and they all said normal pregnancy and childbirth would be excluded. So would premature labor not be covered? Or complications that could crop up like preeclamsia?

Be VERY careful with pregnancy issues. Most insurances specifically exclude anything due to pregnancy related issues after the seventh month. My kids lost  nonrefundable tickets that CSR refused to cover when they needed to travel earlier in the pregnancy than expected, even with a doctor's note.

IME, travel insurance purchased separately were much better to deal with than CC insurance.

It seems you're right. The plan I usually use (TraveledInsured with USAA discount), says they only cover pregnancy if it occured after the plan effective date, as opposed to other pre-existing conditions (that have other limitations). I would advise you to call a Squaremouth rep to ask. They should know. 1-800-240-0369. www.squaremouth.com

I called a few and was told "end of pregnancy" is not covered. Morning sickness etc is covered
