Looking for help with Travel Insurance.
As i'm travelling on 2 different tickets, different airlines, different alliance.
And although i have a 2hr stopover i'm concerned if there is any delays and i won't be able to catch the next flight.
Is there any insurance that would cover me if i need to buy a new ticket?
Any help appreciated

travellers insurance question
« Reply #22 on: November 19, 2013, 02:01:11 PM »
My wife is expecting in mid-January and we wanted to get away for a weekend before the baby.. I have a trip to Orlando (from NY) planned for about 5 weeks before her due date, But somebody pointed out that being that I am on Medicaid (Family Health Plus), the only out-of state medical coverage I receive is emergency room service, in which case I would have to shell out like 25k if she gives birth 5 weeks early.. Does anybody know if I can purchase some kind of travellers insurance that would cover those costs just in case she gives birth there? Or should I just cancel my trip and not risk it..
Thanks!!

You have to buy a policy that has a pre existing condition waiver. Many of them have to be purchased within a certain time frame of purchasing your trip. Additionally you need to be sure that pregnancy is not excluded even if you purchase that waiver.

Thanks! I researched online and it seems that it makes sense to cancel the existing reservation.. I found some availability for this coming weekend so were gonna do that..

I got insurance, and filed a claim for my wife in her 9th month traveling. It was $4 a day and a one time $50 start up fee... I got it from an agent here in Israel. The provider was a Dutch company. My wife was hospitalized due to an allergic reaction on the trip, it was fully covered.

I'm looking for travel insurance that would cover trip cancelation due to civil unrest. Is anyone here familiar with this? From some research it seems like there are a few insurers/policies that include it, but it's not clear what they would consider civil unrest.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use only Travel Guard for my customers. Coverage varies based on what state you are in. I am not a licensed insurance agent so I could not answer the specifics of what the plans cover.

I recommend you call Travel Guard at 800-826-4919 and aske to speak to an agent that is licensed for where you are a resident of. They can give you specific answers.

My Travel Insurance company is calling the situation in Israel "Civil Unrest" (as opposed to terrorism which would be a covered reason for cancellation). Any ammunition I can use to help convince them?

Civil unrest is within 1 country itself. This is either war or terrorism definitely not civil unrest.
