Anybody else notice this new delivery  feature? It's basically amazon's equivalent to ship to store. Scary to think that they're not too far away from same day order fulfillment

Not new. And while they were moving in the direction of same day delivery for a while, they seem to be backing off it now.

Its at least a year or 2 old, I've seen it on Amazon many times and in 7/11. Maybe its new for your location.

I saw one a while back in a 7-11 in Berkeley, CA.

I've ordered from Amazon at 7:30AM and the package was delivered before 6PM.
Not all items qualify, and you need to be shipping to a validated zone (in my case East Brunswick, NJ)
The usual charge is just 3.99 per item. It's nice to have that option for desperate times.

The courier service they use here is A1International which has a sorting facility in Manhattan. Tracking showed me the package got send from Amazon PA, to NYC, then to Edison courier base to be delivered to me.
They have until 8PM to deliver, so it is kinda annoying. But again, it'a great having the option.
