Anyone familiar with this promo?

I know that in the past, discounts off of rack rates aren't worthwhile, but has anyone ever redeemed this successfully?

Seems worthwhile for a lower cost hotel w/ a higher points redemption value.

Yup. They almost always offer it to me when I try to book the LMDS with no standard availability

The RACK rate the agents usually see is $500, so $250 plus 1k. Up to you...

How can I determine the Rack rate when online?
For example, looking at the LM Eilat, I see a cost of $225 for one adult. How do I know if that's Rack?

kimoovon, but which rate am I looking for? W/ Eilat, it only showed me Preferred, nothing else. Does that mean it's the Rack rate as well, or is it possible that some nights, there are no rack rates.

The rack rates in some cases are 2-3 times the prepaid rates.

example: the rate for wetin diplomat feb 10-11 is 399. rack rate is 699. so for 1k SPG you can save 50$

Or use AAA for $340 or use 12K SPG.

yes...just an example of how the rack rate isnt always double or triple, and sometimes might be a decent redemption

A SPG rep told me this is not available in NJ,

Supposedly because their hotels in NJ are priced low anyway, lol

I was about to book a room at the St regis for 275+15k points as paying cash would have been 789+tax a night but whilst speaking to them I found out something new to me(and I have searched here and don't see anyone mentioned it) about booking a room 50%off the rack rate +1000 spg points.
Imo it's a great deal
