Just to maybe enlighten you folks (certainly those that live in Brooklyn. I don't know about other areas, but I would think it's the same). In the past, if you got a ticket for your garbage - like being out 10 seconds too early, or if it wasn't tied, etc, it was $25. You should be aware that it is now $100 to start and if you don't pay it it goes up to a whopping $300. If you do get a ticket and you feel you shouldn't have gotten one, there's an online site (mentioned on the ticket) where you can fight it. I used the online method so that I wouldn't have to go down. I just got a response from the judge who definitely read my whole issue (I happened to call 311 at the time and I had a number they gave me so that helped too), wrote an entire response and voided the ticket. The reason I'm saying all this is that there is actually a person reading it and answering it seriously.
