Why is SYD-LHR / LAX-SYD not qualified as an open Jaw on Delta?

Trying to book the above

SYD-LHR on CZ, LAX-SYD on VA. No go. pricing at 300K Skymiles. tried many reps, no explanation.

Why isn't this a valid open-jaw?

in order the OJ should be shorter then both segment you need to fly via the atlantic, so its a RTW tkt,
