Lundqvist has won five straight Game 7's, an NHL record. In six career Game 7s, Lundqvist is 5-1 with a 1.00 goals-against average, a .965 save percentage and one shutout.

This is why you pay big time players big time money.

Meaningless stat...

Not when you have the most consistent goalie in the NHL for the past 10 years.

Here's some more stats you would love.

He has posted a 13-3 record, along with a 1.42 GAA, a .955 SV%, and 2 SO in the last 16 games in which the Rangers have faced elimination. Since the start of last year’s playoffs, he has posted a 7-1 record, along with a 1.37 GAA and a .960 SV% (286 saves on 298 shots) when the Rangers have faced elimination.

New poll is up!

...I guess if you call losing the Cup 4-1 funny. This with a goalie with the best stats. One stat I don't see listed is his record in the playoffs.  :P

50-52 while mostly playing on terrible teams. Pretty good actually.
Also .924 sv. % and 2.18 GAA

A game of hockey will always be affected by luck, but I believe that the best of 7 series exists exactly for that reason.
So what if the Rangers lost a game where they played better than their opponents.
If they continue to play as the better team, their skill will eventually help them win, and they will also get their lucky bounces.

Rangers finally getting things to go their way.
Let's see if they have the onions to put the Caps away...

Why is that a meaningless stat? I have seen many dumb stats but that actually is really impressive

Are you also impressed with his below .500 performance in the playoffs? That is the most meaningful stat.

That can be argued away like mentioned upthread. For example let's say someone has a losing playoff record with the Milwaukee bucks, you can argue that the fact they make the playoffsv is more important stat then that they lose everyb year to teams much better then them. On the other hand game 7s you can assume at that point it's pretty even playing field and to be 7-1 in those situations cannot be meaningless

here is a crazy stat, in final 14:56 Capitals had 32 shot attempts, Rangers had 0.  It took me quite a while after the game till I could breathe normally again.
The 2 days rest is good for hank and the rangers but not so good for me.  I'm just so anxious for Wednesday's game

To get to game seven means you went 3-3 in the previous six games. That doesn't impress me. He is a good goalie but to only use stats in his favor is not a true picture.

The claim around here is "he" went 7-1 in game seven's. So did "he" go 7-1 or did the "team" go 7-1? You can't have it both ways.
