yup,
stayed up till 2  watching the triple ot game.  I can never go to sleep in a case like that even when I dont care about the outcome. 
The last game in each series has been OT.  Its been a fun few days

Thankfully I'm currently on the west coast makes it much easier to enjoy the game.

Caps would struggle with a 3-1 series lead, down 3-1 they are toast.

They played probably the best team since the all-star break. The let down is "O".

It was a meltdown when I posted, 3-0. Thought it would be another elimination game blowout similar to 5-0 game 7 loss to the Rangers a few years back. They came back but still blew it. Didn't even show up in OT.

Either way, there's no excuses for losing in 6 after putting up a near historic season.
Caps should have been the better team. Can't get past the 2nd round no matter how good their team is.
Holtby showed once again why he's overrated, though despite that he will win the Vezina based on his teams regular season performance. (Seriously why do people cares about his wins if it's a team based stat.)

uh, holtby has one of the best save percentages in the postseason in his career so how is he overrated? Is Hank overrated ? I think not, his team doesn't score enough. And btw, Crosby proved yet again why he's a choker. 3 assists in 6 games against the caps? Why does he get  a free pass?

The trick is to shutdown the other teams big guns. Would you call Toews and Kane chokers?

Crosby has the best playoff PPG from any active player.
If he came up with a stupid taunt like "all series long" and played like OV did last year than he would deserve it.
So he gets a free pass for now...as long as his team is winning.

Holtby's first 2 goals given up were easily stoppable.
He doesn't step it up in big games. Same happened when he lost 5-0 to Rangers in game 7.
Or game 5 and game 6 last year when they could've closed out the series. He's not a bad goalie at all but he's not elite or Vezina worthy IMHO.

Hank's stats speak for itself. This year he faced the toughest shots faced in the league while sporting the best 5v5 save percentage.
Rangers D left players wide open in front of the net most of the season.
And easily the best goalie to have in net in a game 7 or any elimination game.

OV is not the reason they lost at all.

Kuzy, the depth forwards, and Orpik were all big anchors.

No I mean more than two goals. This standing at the top of the circle and taking shots just does not cut it. He is the common denominator over all these years. He is the captain. He needs to step up!!!

The Pens are the best team in the nhl over the last 4 months, dont think you can get on Ovi or the caps too much for this loss.  I do agree that at times Ovi just sits at the point and blasts shots but hes not the reason they lost. 
I dont see how the Bolts win this series against the Pens either.

So you think taking the games best scorer out of his best spot for scoring would make the team better? He scores more goals from the left circle than most players score from anywhere on the ice.

6 games is not enough time to call 2 goals "not enough". You can't just score goals at will.
He scored goals, hit posts, got great shots off and did what he's supposed to. Opens the ice for his teammates to score. Dishes out 5 assists. Had part in half his teams goals. Coincidence that Oshie finally played well in the playoffs? I think not.

Bolts are lucky to play in the Atlantic bracket. Islanders and Redwings were 2 easy match ups. Caps/Pens was the conference finals. But to be fair, if stamkos and Stralman were playing I wouldn't say that.

I am not blaming the loss on Ovi this year. Pitt was a better team. You can't overlook the fact that he has been there all these years and they are a failure. Being a captain is not just about your play.

pitt survived a few 5 on 3s somehow. Matt Murray (the goalie) really saved them during these playoffs. Several times.
Almost any other guy would have let in another 2-3 goals per game, and then: season gone. There have been many close calls. He did an amazing job during some tough moments.

It's just a shame that the Caps always suffer bad luck. For all you Ovi bashers out there he has been hustling on defense the whole series.
