I really don't see how that play warranted a major penalty. A cross-check, I'll give you that. But how that got called a 5 min major, I just don't understand. Even if you gave him a double-minor (which I'm not even sure he deserved that), the sharks would have gotten 2 goals (at most), and it would have been 3-2 Vegas. Knights got screwed.
Agree with you, it was a bad call, specifically the most they could've given was a minor each to Eakin and Statsny. The refs made the call based on the result and not based on the cross check. They do have that discretion but only if it's a predatory hit, which it wasn't. Though even at 3-2 we have a game with plenty of time. Still an unbelievable turn of events, and the Sharks capitalized like never seen before in history.
And everything else in the game besides that, Sharks came back from 3-1 series lead, the pace was quick, the scoring chances were really good, Vegas ties it with less than a minute, back n forth game 7 sudden death OT, this game will be remembered for many years.
