What he said in the past is not relevant today. Ever since the Tarasenko trade it was clear that Kane was disappointed and that he wanted to come to NY. There are too many journalists from multiple venues who are reporting that he only wants to come to the Rangers. Now.

Everything he has said is relevant. You also need to understand what type of person he is. You think he would want to screw the Hawks? Even if he 100% only wanted one team I don't think he would put that out there.

Isn't NY clearing the decks for him?

They’re clearing cap space for him now. The Rangers were completely out of the running once they traded for Tarasenko because Kane would cost more than they’d be close to giving up. Though it became clear the past week that Kane was still pushing hard to go to the Rangers and the Blackhawks were willing, even if it meant getting a pittance in return. Guess time will tell when we see the return.

We can find out sooner if Lindgren goes on IR and cap space opens up.
