In places where there are elite lines, you'll be able to use them.
The biggest perk for most is the free luggage when flying domestic.

I got BMI silver when dan posted that deal with the wzo (or whatever its called) then i got the email saying i needto furnish more info but then i got the card in the mail. does anybody know if I can use the card to waive luggage fees and the like?

flying domestic, yes. i used my bmi frequent flyer number on my continental flight and they told me i get 2 free luggage. also, CO gave me priority seating. anything else, idk.

I will be flying LOT From NYC to Poland in August. I have the BMI Silver status thanks to Dan. Are there any benefits I can get with this card as LOT is a member of Star Alliance? I undersrand the the free baggage is only for domestic flights (correct me if Im wrong) but will it do anything else for me such as access to lounges........

 unfortunately BMI is no different then any other *A and only its Top level offers Lounge Access world-wide. It does offer it at its own Lounges, so if BMI has a Lounge at WAW then you should be able to get in
