Most people's screen name is their actual name i.e. Dan, AsherO, and others. Other have their initials and their address.... And some are completly coded, i.e. Meshugener, HelpMe, or Kugelfresser.

1) Why do you hide your real name?
2) Do you mind if people know who you are?
3) Is it wrong to reveal an identity of someone who you know, if they want to stay behind a cloak of secrecy.
4) If you were required to write your name would you.
5)Do you always use the same screen name on all the blogs/ forums/ websites you visit?

Recently someone revealed my identity, I am pretty pissed.

No one has to know who I am, what I post, when I post, from where I am posting from.

Those who want to give their name can and those who don't shouldn't have to.
But you surely shouldn't go around letting others know the identity of people who wish to remain anonymous, not without their permission.
Def not nice.

I don't use my name because this forum is a public place and I am not looking to share details about myself to the whole world. It's the same reason I don't use Facebook.

He arguably only addressed--implicitly at that--numbers 2 and 3.

This (No one has to know who I am) would take care of 1/4 but I will give you #5.

I also agree that if you do figure out someones handle (as I have for a few handles here, and at least one person here did for me), keep it to yourself if that person so wishes....

1) WHY that is true and/or WHY he feels that way,
4) IF he would still post if he were required to diclose; and

He did, I can tell you alotttt about yeki, from gathered info from his posts. I can tell you his email, name etc; from posts and google. Of course I wouldn't share it, but beware out there.

But, even when not using your real name, there are many times alot of identifiable info out there. as I wrote before, many times all you need is google and the postings.
