sorry if i dont have the rite terminology but the pope IS called "spiritual leader" and "holly father",
but ether way,i would think that someone of his role should be the last one being shady.

I only know of one that walked on this earth that was not "shady".

I did erase my post minutes after i posted it because I realized my mistake. It wasn't a Chief Rabbi who resigned rather he was prevented from running in the first place.
In any case, the point is that everyone has a yetzer Harah and no one is imune, even those on top (כל הגדול מחבירו יצרו גדול הימנו) and although in an ideal world you would expect people on the top to be the ones who are the most spiritually qualified, unfortunately in our עלמא דשיקרא that is not always the case.

What does "leader of the generation" mean? if you mean the whole generation I don't think there was anyone since the days of the Geonim who was the undisputed head of the generation (except maybe the Rambam).

It could be he meant Rabbis that are in higher up positions.  The "gedolei hador" which I would hope wouldn't be doing any molesting. Obviously you never know and its sadly always possible. Now if you're talking just any Rabbis there are PLENTY molesting kids.
