I doubt the name Larry Jordan means anything to you but if he recommends raid 5 for lower budgets, I would take his word.
Like I said earlier, most of those crazy stories you have are probably from people who really don't have a clue.

Well just like you wouldn't expect Larry Jordan to take Video or Photography advice from me, You can't expect me to take Data Recovery and storage advice from him. Yes Raid 5 is safer than Raid 0, however when they fail, the can have major corruption issues especially when they aren't replaced immediately.
A video editors primary concern is speed - which is why most of you guys are still running Raid 0 and think that it has some kind of backup.

Raid 5 is recommended for lower budgets because Raid 5 can work with 3 Drives, and Raid 10 needs 4 Drives Min

I think most of us know raid 0 had no data redundancy, we use it when we're broke and need speed.

I think most of you know Now about that. I have worked on so many Raid 0 for you guys.

One of my colleagues had a story with a photographer that was hired to travel through Europe and photograph Churches and Antiquities. They had a huge budget and got the proper lighting and props, they even had the connections to close down specific churches to get the proper photos. They saved everything on Raid 0 server and one of the drives failed. They lost about $250k and nothing was recovered!

Wow.

Raid 10 is faster than Raid 5 - as it doesn't need to prioritize the sectors

Ok new one - Got this Monday, had it many times before as well.

Computer connects to local area connection, gets IP address - can't connect to the internet. Safe mode with networking does work to connect.

Was a static IP address configured on the computer?

I have seen many times that the computer cant connect to the internet and configuring with a static, and configure the gateway solves the issue

Define "can't connect to the internet"... Was there a bad DNS server set and as such it couldn't resolve domain names but could still ping IP addresses?
