Learning about Bicycle Specks

Does anyone in this forum have any knowledge about road bikes? I have been trying to do some research and found the amount of things needed to know is overwhelming.

I ride, And would be glad to help to the extent of my knowledge. Don't worry, it might seem overwhelming in the beginning, and expensive (which it is) but once you get the hang of it its so worth it. (I rode the Tahoe Century last summer and I am doing a week of the Friendship circle ride this summer). What are you looking for?
