Best Buy just announced they will officially price match from all local retailer competitors. As well as there big online sites:

Amazon.com
Apple.com
Bhphotovideo.com
Buy.com
Crutchfield.com
Dell.com
Frys.com

HomeDepot.com
Lowes.com
Newegg.com
OfficeDepot.com
OfficeMax.com

Why would someone buy something (even matched) on Best Buy when Amazon beats the price (or the same)?
I mean, does Best Buy have better customer service, return policies?

yea. they have better customer service and offer their own warranty on almost everything.

Well Best Buy has people working in the store who can show you how to work items etc. As far as return policy and things like that I'd go with Amazon.

The real benefit here would be from Stores selling this online where shipping/return would be expensive and inconvenient. For example- Frys.com often has great prices which are sometimes store pickup only. It would be amazing to get the item for the same price from best buy.

If you're a person like me that works all day (yeah, yeah, what are you doing now?...) and doesn't get to stores, paid a few pennies for Prime and always gets Amazon to give me 1-day shipping as a courtesy.

There is an iphone app called Amazon Price Check. You can scan any barcode and it will tell you if Amazon has it and how much it is. I use it in BB all the time. Scan an item and show the guy the price on my phone. There was one cashier who would always give me the best amazon price. even if that price was for a used item.

since best buy was loosing money from people coming in , and then buying it on amazon they had to do something about it . so right now you are having a hands on experience on the item so why not just walk out with it for the same price?
I think its a great and long awaited move for best buy.

Why would I drive to the store (gas, wear and tear on the car), if I could get it shipped to my house for free

Sometimes you want to check out an item, so as not to have to order it and then deal with sending it back if it's no good.

I like going to Best Buy to see things in person sometimes before ordering. But I usually end up ordering from Amazon. Better prices. Better return policy.

It's not better prices if you get the price matched, and it's not a better return policy if you use your Amex. Especially when you get to keep it half the time with Amex.

Best Buy charges taxes. And what about items over $300 and over $500? Amazon is the way to go.
