sprint has the cheapest plans, and now with lte coming out almost everywhere it should be great. sprint is the way to go.

-1000 I can't have a single call for more than 5 minutes without dropping! If not for the fact that it's cheaper I would definitely switch!!

this is a very blanket thing you are saying, NY is big, every part of NY is different, the towers that you see on buildings are usually fed with a fiber optic cable, so once the call hits the fiber it has no reason to drop, unless the call is not reaching the tower because it is too far or has too many concurrence calls. this is only a per-tower issue, some places have great service while others are really bad. The same goes for att and verizon.

Tell sprint bad coverage. That may work.

I can't guarantee this will work, but it's worth a shot.
Go to fcc.gov/complaints and file a complaint. They will deal Sprint.
A friend of mine switched from att to Verizon, and they billed him for the cancellation. I suggested try this, and a few weeks later att dropped the fee.
I'm also not sure if this will work b4 you actually made the switch.

VZW uses a frequency with much better indoor penetration than Sprint.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

b'reshus baal haochsaniya i want to disagree, they may use better tower equipment but the bands depending on which type of transmission (voice, 1x, 3g andso forth) some are the same exact as sprint, some are differnet, in the most part the reason verizon is better is because they have more towers and better equipment.

I just switched.  I called Sprint a few times and had them check to see how many dropped calls i had experienced.  They were able to check and they saw that my service was below average.  They sent me an airrave which didn't work, and I don't think it worked for anyone.  After a few calls complaining to them they agreed to waive the cancellation fee.

I have sprint. I live in Brooklyn where the service is decent. I spend a lot of time in Far Rockaway where the service is terrible. I did a lot of reading on the subject and learned that;
As Dan said Sprints frequency differs from that of Verizon, which is the cause for the terrible reception indoors. (1xrtt, 3g, evdo, and lte aren't frequencies. I.e. Sprints 3g uses a different frequency than Verizons 3g)
Your phone constantly switches towers based on signal strength (not speed), and being that 1xrtt is stronger than 3g, your phone will likely connect to it as opposed to 3g (the internet speed on 1xrtt is unbearably slow). Your phone may stay on 1xrtt even after you go back out. You can just reset your network and you'll usually pick up evdo, or ehrpd once again.
Lastly, and I have no idea why this is, I've noticed that my signal strength fluctuates tremendously from one second to the next even while I'm outdoors, and stationary.

Sprint in BP and have dropped calls left and right. Though, the brand new 4G network is blazing fast .
