Notes:

IMPORTANT: If you have food in your suitcase when it comes off the belt there  will be a zip tie around the handle of your suitcase that's to indicate  to customs that you have food, when you walk through customs they will pull you aside and go through your bag. Here's the trick, Since you can't bring along a knife or something like that to get the zip tie off so bring along a nail clipper in your carry on and smoothly when no ones looking snip off the zip tie and put it in your pocket. Good Luck!

Considering a trip to Bali for late December and I'm trying to figure out all the different areas. First off, does it make a difference with the weather if we stay in Ubud, Kuta, Seminyak, or somewhere else? And what in general is the difference between these places?

2nd, I want to stay in a villa with a private pool (via Arnbnb). Which area is more likely to have this type of property? TIA

STAY AWAY FROM KUTA! Its the party zone full of drunk ozzy's and scantly clad women. (The whole denpasar area is just crowded)
Ubud is in the center, further from beaches, but artsy, natural and quite. If you want further away and closer to beaches, diving etc try Amed.
South Kuta is a bit quieter (but often windier) + a few high end resorts.

Ubud has the highest density of airbnb properties IIRC

Seminyak is where the undercover Jewish family lives (PM for info)

How long are you going for? what do you enjoy? who is coming along?

IMO, if doing Bali, do Ubud and the north.
No need to stay in beach towns, since those are a dime a dozen in Asia.

Yea, that's one of the things that the websites warn about, make sure you have money when you get to customs.
We got lucky, no line when we arrived.

Planning a trip to Bali this summer.

I see a lot of people are writing to visit Ubad, however I want to be on the beach unless Ubad is offering something amazing.

Looking for a fairly priced villa with a pool either in Ubad or on the beach somewhere, any recommendations would help.

None compare to beaches like Whitehaven Beach, Camps Bay, or Eli Nido, but depending which beach, some are very nice.
