I'll be going to Bali from JFK 6:15am (in a few hours from now). Actually flying first in Jakarta and gonna sleep for a few hours before flying to Densapar. Will be getting into Bali 6pm on Thursday. Does anyone here have any recommendations where to stay for shabbos that makes it possible to observe shabbos and have a minyan and kosher food / atmosphere?
I am traveling with a non-jew so I need a solid plan lol thanks!
iirc, there are no official jewish institutions in bali

yup
but pretending that s/t small exists, is it really worth going out of one's way to go there, unless it's to bring them s/t?

Update: got in touch with them. They were run by chabad of SIN and are closing in a week due to making Aliya.
No replacement known yet.

Planning a 3-night/4-day trip and deciding where to stay (and I'd prefer not to switch places).

Up thread people mentioned that the beaches in Bali aren't that amazing (and I'm not such a beach person). I also noticed there are a lot of new and cheap SPG properties opening in Ubud in the next few months.

I've heard good things about The Laguna (12k SPG) in Nusa Dua, but that Nusa Dua can feel "sterile" (Prices in Ubud aren't set yet since most of the new SPG hotels aren't accepting reservations yet besides the Sthala for 7k).

Would staying in Ubud for 3 nights be closer to the main attractions, or is Nusa Dua nicer because of the beaches, even if they're not so nice?

If you dont want to move around then stay in Ubud. IMO you would do a lot better to stay in a villa with Airbnb or similar. Beaches aren't Maldives style but there are some amazing experiences once you get inside the water.

I actually looked at the Airbnb links up thread and they looked really nice and cheap. Is Ubud the best location because most of the activities are there or just because it's nicest?

And the reason you didn't stay there was because the place you stayed at was nicer? How was its  location?

I stayed in Nusa Dua for my entire stay. I did Ubud for a day and didn't feel like it was a shlelp.  3 nights at GH and 3 nights a Conrad, suites in both.  GH is nicer, Conrad is nicer. Craziest breakfast you've ever seen.

You didn't feel like it was a shlep but you didn't go back for another day? Is there only 1 days worth of stuff to do there? Did you look into the Laguna or any SPG properties?

I stayed in both. The beach villa I stayed in the first days was  by far the most luxurious and pampering property I ever stayed at yet I wouldn't hesitate to stay in Ubud again if/when I go back.

Cool! Do you think splitting a 3 night stay is worth it? Seems best to just stay in one place, and based on this Ubud seems to be that place.

Last time I thought about switching I had serious opposition and that was for a longer stay and in Maui which has less to "do" then Bali. Just stick with one place though.
