People say the 2015 Sedona looks the most "SUV"ish of all minivans, and they even call it a MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), not a minivan. But they say that from a practical perspective, it's much less convenient than the Odyssey, and the 3rd row is quite crowded.

Once someone is buying it, don't you think they'd try to buy a nicer one first.

Dude, no matter which minivan you buy you will never be cool.  Get over it.   ;D

Do you remember where you got the other price (so I can get them to match it)?
I used Amex to start and worked from there...

I think he's referring to the AmEX car buying program, but from what I can tell, it's basically getting me the same prices as TrueCar (they seem to be connected), just with the option to put some or all of the purchase price on an AmEx. I'm certainly not seeing any great metzias in terms of pricing. Any other tips of who to call, or what month to get best pricing?

I was actually reading about the 2015 Kia when you posted. I was surprised to read about the redesign, but it clearly gets great reviews. Everybody now says the top 3 are Odyssey, Sienna, and Sedona. People say for the same price Sedona gives you better features, but that it's smaller and not as child-friendly. The warranty is also great, but people say they're not known for their durability. Any other thoughts on Odyssey vs. Sedona for a family?
Durability, Let me say this.... I owned a 2006 Sedona for 9 years with a family of kids B''H, never a problem with the Sedona, in fact I only sold it because someone offered me $8500 for the 06 Sedona, and now I have my 2015 Sedona

I drive the new 2015 KIA Sedona, what a nice ride, comfort, roomy, 8 seats, etc

Consumer Reports gives the new 2015 Kia Sedona a pretty raving review.

Car and Driver Magazine did a test of the Odyssey, Sienna and Sedona.  I'm personally not surprised (based upon my ownership experience of the Odyssey) that they rated the Sienna as best.

Planning to get a new Honda Odyssey. Was planning to get a 2015, but one dealer said the 2016s are coming out next month. They said later models always get better resale value (though I'm planning to keep it for many years), though the dealer incentives and financing won't be as favorable on the new model. Also the pre-release pictures I see online don't look too appealing. Any thoughts on getting a 2015 now vs. waiting for the 2016 next month?

i would say to stick to the current one since sometimes new models have slight issues, especially since you will keep it long term

I thought the 5th gen Ody isn't coming out until 2017?  2016 should be identical to 2015 IIRC.

Anyway, the best bet is finding remaining stock of the 2015s after the 2016 comes out.

Correct that it's not a total redo. But look at the exterior pics here (and many other sites have the same pics):

http://newcarsreleasedates.com/2016-honda-odyssey-changes/

Definitely a very different look, and not one I particularly like, though if it's well-received, that sporty look may become the new appearance of minivans, and older ones won't be easy to resell one day.

I asked several places about getting a 2015 when the 2016s come out, and he said there won't be any, as even now inventory is quite low. Don't know if they're telling the truth, but they all gave me this answer.

If you are keeping it long term and assuming you can get a better deal on a 2015, I would go with that over a 2016.  I bought a leftover at the end of the year and saved a few thousand.

Just curious, what year did you get, and how much did you get it for?

Sounds great, any tips on how to go about doing something like this?

I got a 2012 Touring for slightly under 40k out the door price including tax and tags plus .9 financing for 5 years.

+1. I think that's more a concept car. We would know if that's coming out in 1 month
