My Pacifica lease is ending in a few months. I mentioned to my mechanic that we were considering buying off the lease (given the current high lease prices) and he strongly suggested that we don’t lol. Have a hard time walking away and paying crazy prices…
Odysseys seem relatively easy to find at or under MSRP these days already.

My odyssey driver's side passenger power door started making issues, it opens ok, but when trying to close it refuses and immediately beeps, after a while (days) it will close again a few times, then it will try to close and retract in the middle and refuse to close again for several days.

Apparently the system is hitting an issue and keeps it cached for a while before resetting and hitting the issue again

if this is a Sienna there was a recall for such an issue.

Odyssey
the Siennas model 2015-18 has a recall for door erroneously thinking there was something blocking the sliding door. Sounds like a similar issue

Run your fingernail along the black edge of the door (the sensor is a thin wire/cable going along the height of the door). Check if it's pinched in.
Happened to me, after placing cargo on the roof, it got pinched in

Rented a new 2023 Sienna XLE Hyrbid, first time driving a Sienna I think.

Pros:
Love all the storage space in the front, much more usable than the Ody.
Hybrid gas mileage is amazing.

Cons:
Drives like a truck vs the Ody drives like a car.
Worse brakes.
Climate controls seem more confusing and less intuitive, but that could just be a learning curve.

Overall, I'd still rebuy the Ody due to much more comfortable driving and braking, despite the worse gas mileage and storage spaces.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

1. The new Sienna is awful
2. The Sienna holds its value longer

I drove a sienna for 3 years, followed by an Odyssey which I currently own.
when I changed to the Odyssey, I hated the brakes for the first few months.
Now, after driving an Odyssey for the past 4 years, whenever I happen to drive a sienna, I hate their brakes too.
So I guess it's not about good vs awful, I think they're just different, so takes time to adjust.

Agreed with everything. I'm generally a honda person but couln't turn down the gas mileage on the sienna.

Brakes are fine - just takes getting used to as Dovy2 siad.

Climate controls are really annoying. Not sure why they haven't figured out how to make it work intuitively. The front is easy but once you need to adjust rear it becomes a pain.

The driving like a truck part - I think you get used to that too.

I'm not worried about toyota screwing up the hybrids. They have been making hybrids since before 2010 so  i would assume they have apretty good handle on their hybrid engines and what htey can handle.

Two cons that you did not mention -
1. It is very loud on the highway. Between engine acceleration at high speeds and the lack of wind noise cancellation it is by no means quiet (although I suppose you get used to that as well). I hear that on the higher trim models they put it a noise cancelling windshield but I needed 8 seats and only LE and XLE offer that.

2. it is a royal pain to remove the second row seats. There are some youtube videos showing how to do it but you need tools and you need to disconnect the battery. I haven't needed to take them out yet (they fold up and roll forward very welll) but I imagine that would be a serious con for some people. And Im sure the day I need to do it I will be quite annoyed

I have a 2022 Kia Carnival LXS and I am very happy with it.
Here is what I found it does better than Sienna or Odyssey

It sits higher off the ground
I think it is quitter in terms of road and wind noise
Gas is not as good as a Sienna or Pacifica PHEV but the engine is quite powerful with very quick shifts
The cargo space is very good and middle seat in middle row is actually usable. Also has a clever way of pushing back the middle seat so you don't sit squashed between 2 car seats!
best in class driver assistance lane keep assist and adaptive cruise (LXS trims only get LKA but it works rally well)
Lowest price for not cloth seats (vinyl) if you could get one at sticker. Higher trims have real leather.
Handling is better than the Sienna but not as nimble as the Odyssey but is very comfortable
