If someone is 10+ or 60+ years in the game, it doesn't make a difference anymore, as so many things change so often.

true but the basics are still the same, as is the thought process

Try using a more beginner friendly flight like Aeroplan or Continental.

It ain't pretty, but it is 75K miles RT.
CO allows free changes, so you can book something like this and change to better options as they open up and just use this as a last resort.

Since when does CO allow free changes to date/routing for non-plat?

Gotta be a couple years already!

The timing of LX256 is torture.  Could never quite get on schedule after arriving a 3:30am.  But ZRH does beat out BRU.
Find anything better on the return?

Truth be told you could do better than all of these if you are willing to take a stopover in a European city.

Any Star Alliance airline can book that itinerary.
The only different is the rates they charge.
CO will be your best option though IMHO.  75,000 miles and probably $100 tax.  You'll need to call them (possibly a couple of times) to book.  Do it soon if you want it.

I think ZRH vs BRU may be a bit of a touche subject here ;)

But we all know which one is better...

You mean touchy :P

'which one is better'? Are you talking about cities or DDF members? (or some combination thereof?)
