I did it a year ago and lernd up the whole sugya.
I have a lot of tips to share but didint yet get around to writing it up.

Thanx alot. I guess next time I'm in eilat. We came to the border around 1pm and the border closes 8 pm so it wasn't worth it anymore. I didnt dream that the border wasn't opened 24 hours.

Cab is 100 JOD ($141 USD) for the day.
Jordanian Visa costs 40 JOD ($56 USD).
Petra costs 90 JOD ($127 USD) if you are not sleeping over in petra.
Border times. SUN-THU: 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM. FRI and SAT: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

We paid the cab 60 JOD ($90) for the day.
You don't pay for a Visa if crossing by Eilat and only going to Aqaba

Petra is 55 JOD ($73) if you slept in Jordan the night before or if you slept in Jordan the night before

if you plan on leaving the airport and coming from USA then yes, you get it in the airport

thank you. I'm not planning on leaving, but if I'm switching airlines and will have to recheck luggage, then I'll still need a visa ?
