So bottom line... Hershel says not to fly into Amman if it makes you uncomfortable or you will 100% end up peeing in your pants. If you are comfortable going, that's fine but don't walk around Amman. The airport itself is okay. Taking a cab across the border is okay. Petra is okay.

Yes or no?

In my opinion. Anything you will be doing touristy as well as transit is relatively safe and no issue. In the many talks I had with Jordanians they made it seem like their main hatred is Israeli not as much Jewish. I said I was Jewish and they always asked "from Israel?"

Funniest moment I had in Jordan was when some arab woman came up to us with her son and asked for tzedaka saying: "I need money, please, I am pelestinian".

The tourism economy in Jordan barely exists.
I went to the citadel and there were a few Asians.
I went to the Royal car museum and there were a couple other people there.
I walked around rainbow street and a souk and maybe saw 10 tourists.
These are the only things for tourists to do in Amman.
This was a few weeks ago. Maybe there are more popular times?
As far as safety goes, I was never nervous.
Though I still wouldn't recommend leaving the airport if your a family or you look Jewish.
Though I don't see any issue transiting AMM without leaving the airport.

Seems you barely hit up the tourist sector. While it isn't the US, Jordan gets over 6 million tourists a year as opposed to Israel's slightly over 3. Not to shabby and def not a "barely existing tourism economy"

A good portion of them are day trippers.
Tourism has def gone down as it used to be more them 6 million.
Also Jordan's 90,000 KM is slightly larger then Israel's 20,000 do its way more spread out

when was it more jordan is currently in it's most peaceful time in 20 years also it's very hard to be a day tripper and go from Amman to Petra and back and catch a flight and the only way to do it is from eliat and that border crossing was pretty slow mostly workers came thru

Are there reputable taxis from yerushalayim, to AMM ? If yes, do you need a visa to get in ?
Life is as good as you make it...

You would need a separate Taxi from the border.

Yes,  you need a visa

Problem is, from what I've seen recently there is zero Y availability on that route.

Yep and once you're talking about 9k avios instead of 4.5k, you'd get a better deal going over the border, if the timing worked out for you. Although flying would probably be more convenient.

-1

The visa would cost you $60, Plus transportation to and from border, 9k is a no brainer

Plus the waiting time to pass the border and the border itself is a major PITA

Are you serious? You have to be crazy to cab over the border instead of using 9k Avios.
