Heres to all my Fellow Canadians,

I just got off the phone with Amex Canada Customer Service at Phone # (905) 474-9380 and they did whats called an "international consolidation" of my points, which is the transfer of my Canadian MR points to my US MR account. They did mention it would take a few business days. Ill post when they go thru to my US account.

What information did they ask you? Do they close the Canadian MR account or just transfer the points?

I called customer service and asked them to do an international consolidation of my points and the man had actually never heard of it, but after a few moments he said he found out about it and that id be able to do it. He didnt ask me for any information other than my name and US CC # to transfer the points to. They just transfer the points (both accounts remain open). At the end he did verify that the US MR/CC was in my name, im assuming you wouldnt be able to transfer it to another persons account but i dont know.

Hope that helps

Is it 1:1 ?

Spoke to a rep today and the Rep told me that its 1:1 but they also change the currency from CAN to USD so it may be a little less.

Just did another International Consolidation and boy the exchange rate sucks!! I lost a ton of points on the deal...

I wonder if the other way around would be a good way to gain points before transferring at the standard rate to an airline..... hmm....

Because they count Canadian MR vs the value of the Canadian Dollar, and since they are transferring the Canadian MR over to US MR they go by the exchange rate between the two... Make sense?

That's what I thought it was - that's very frustrating with the current exchange.
