I used it only once as I was stuck.
It's important to know, as 3g on the go, and I mean on roaming is a killer.

Seems very neat otherwise, besides that it wanted me to type in a specific fashion the address, but that's okay, and the points u score on the go :-)

Most free gps on smartphones use data. It'd be a huge download otherwise. AFAIK navfree is the only true offline gps. I you choose which states you want to download.

Don't rely on Waze or any gps alone, always make sure to check a map before hand,
Waze routed me from tzfas to the 6 on route to TLV on back roads all the way to the Labanon border was just horrible.

IME, Waze is best suited for traffic. The traffic that it shows is by leaps and bounds better and more accurate than any other nav system. The routing and POI are mediocre compared to Google Maps. The social aspects are really cool though. Whenever I'm on my way to meet someone, I'll share my location with them from Waze and they can see where I am and what my ETA is in real time without even needing Waze. Cool stuff...

After using waze my opinion is that it's too cluttered. Too much going on at once. Also the traffic just isn't accurate. Google maps is way more accurate. (Btw how does gmaps track traffic? From android location services?) I find it useful for one thing. Gas prices. It will tell you the gas price on real time and it's usually pretty accurate...

Where are you using it?
For me, in NYC mostly, the traffic has consistently surprised me with its accuracy. I use GasBuddy for gas prices, and been very happy with it.

+1. I have used it for about 6 years now both in Israel and in the US and I am astonished as to the accuracy of the traffic... Even when I am doing a 2 or 3 hours drive, I always arrive at the time Waze said I would with a 2-3 minutes margin... Waze learns about your driving habits, it uses the speed of all the other waze users on your trip to calculate your trip length... I agree that it could do a better job with POIs and less clutter would be nice; but for me the main point of a GPS is to get me to my destination the fastest/safest/smartest/cheapest way and I think it is doing a much better job than Google/Apple maps

Waze supposedly is one of the traffic providers to Apple Maps so I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

Whenever I'm on my way to meet someone, I'll share my location with them from Waze and they can see where I am and what my ETA is in real time without even needing Waze. Cool stuff...

A word of caution... Don't use waze upstate,  especially getting to Walmart.

Last night it took me a weird long way down lone roads and when i was in middle of no where,  and no where near Walmart it said i arrived at my destination.

It seemed the address was right because when i used Google with same address i got there

Like waze but feels clunky compared to g maps. G maps also shows me within a couple min when i will get there. Though the speedtraps and cameras were greatest part of waze but realized that cops could be on too and removing speed trap notices. (As u pass if its not there you can check off that the cops left and it disappears from the map...)
