as per the people i consulted its good for that price and if you want HDD. but that nowadays everything is moving to SSD which is faster and more reliable. was told that the one of the main differences is write speed so if you are using it to load stuff up once its a good idea .

SSD is quicker in read/write.
This is a good price, since it would cost around $45 to make your own external 2TB drive.

backup plus is meant to backup a computer or drives, probably has software on it to help. you can wipe the drive and use it for whatever you want.

expansion portable or more like a large USB for extra storage

besides that main difference is physical size, backup slim is smaller by a couple mm on each side. Closer to the actual size of the HDD inside.

Is there any Reason to go with an SSD like this? or for basic pics and vids a regular HDD is good enough to store on?

Only if you keep on moving things on and off the external drive. Since SSD has a great read and write speed.
