Here's an interesting one. My parents stayed at The Ranch in Death Valley National Park Monday night. They forgot my father's tefillin in the room (in the closet on the top shelf) when they checked out on Tuesday. The hotel staff have not been very helpful. They said someone checked into the room for 5 nights and they don't want to disturb them. They said depending on whether the people staying in the room hang up a "do not disturb" sign, they may not be able to go in until they occupants check out. My parents begged the staff to at least slip a note under the door, but it is not clear if they have done even that. My father is on shpilkes not knowing if he will ever see his tefillin again. If anyone is in Death Valley, especially if they are staying at The Ranch, if you can please knock on Room 835 and see if anyone opens and ask them to look on the top shelf in the closet if the tefillin are there. We would greatly appreciate it. Tizku l'mitzvos!
