Google's purchase of Waze aside, Waze is a great app. Search doesn't compare to google maps but traffic guidance and the ability to report traffic and accidents is amazing. I use it daily and could not live without it when visiting in LA. Tons of people, tons of cars, traffic everywhere, lots of reports make driving in LA much more manageable. Google Maps is not even close at routing you around traffic or accidents.

I wish I wouldn't have sold them a few months ago when they were at $800

That's awesome!
What it means for me is that I'll prob switch to Google maps, which means I won't be reporting on waze anymore. If many others think like me that would defeat the purpose no?

I assume they'll build reporting into GMaps also soon.

At which point they may as well just merge the Waze app into the Gmaps app
