Being that 'tis the season, I will write a brief post regarding even exchanges in Sabre. I am referring to INVOL situations such as BRU where you are reprotecting pax. This post will probably require some updating so I will come back and edit it when I have the chance. Feedback welcome, as there is always going to be something to add.
There are a few levels of even exchange
SCENARIO A
You have an autoexchange that price as $0.00 difference and you just have to remove the penalty (Sabre autoexchange will not allow you to adjust penalty to 0, so you will either have to adjust in ARC or manual exchange)
Before we start scenario B and C I strongly recommend (at least for windows users. I don't know if this is possible for MAC) that you keep 2 tabs open side by side and have the PQ (you did save one by ticketing, right?) or at least the original ETR open in one tab while you work on the other tab
SCENARIO B
There is a difference in price, but it does in fact price with WFR.
1) In such a situation you will start the exchange mask using WFRTR2 (if ticket being exchanged is line 2), add you qualifiers such as segment select, passenger type, upsell, etc.
Say a tefilla and if you X all the down and next you don't get "NO FARE FOR CLASS USED" You may have just cut your work by 75%
We will start with manual pricing, but if it autoprices, thank the lord and skip to step 5
2) Auto-Manual Pricing
If you were unable to get past the screen where you are able to insert farebasis and putting a "P" in the P/M box says "NO FARE" then the first thing to try is putting in the original f/bs and designators in the appropriate boxes. Outbound fares for outbound and return for return. Hit P and see if that will price. If yes, continue to step 5, if not continue below.
3) The boxes all the way on the right are for the fare amount per segment. If you have the pricing info open in another tab, just look at the pricing of each fare sector and input it on the top box of the last segment before the fare break. (not the Q box). If you get to the fare calc page, great and continue to step 5, if not continue below
4) Fully M pricing
Just make sure the taxes all match the original ticket exactly, and then move onto the fare calc mask
5) Fare Calc Mask
Here you have to put in the fare calculation exactly as it was in the original ticket. Hit next.
6) Comparison Screen
If you have done everything correctly, the base difference should be $0. If taxes are off, X by tax comparison, then X by tax update, and manually correct all the taxes to be the same.
You should now hopefully have a difference of $0. Personally I'm a fan of first retaining, saving, and then issuing off PQR. Less of a chance to get a simultaneous for being in the record too long.
To be continued with Phase IV exchange
