Update:

Adding a AA random segment was a good idea in theory but the AA PNR you get does not help. It's not the PNR you are looking for.

What you have to do is call IB and they will give you the AA PNR you need. You can also call up AA with flight info and they will provide PNR. In that PNR I was able to select seats etc.

Just saying, when you book LX4220 (for example) LY doesn't have the PNR till like 72 hours prior to the flight

Interesting. I would think that the PNR is being born right away when the original PNR is being created it just takes time to show up for LY.

Can a travel agent combine separate tickets under one record locator and one e-ticket #?
The reason why I'm asking is because my friend just showed me a ticket booked by a travel agent it shows as one ticket online but he is intentionaly expected to skip one leg, if it's all one ticket it is my understanding that the rest will be voided?

Question is if it is possible that it is indeed two separate tickets which missing the last leg of 1 will not affect the other but the agent somehow combined it under one record/ticket#

A travel agent can book several tickets under one PNR if that was your question.

Issue with manual fare basis, or issue in new PNR and call airline to attach. Some airlines allow you to attach in Sabre with 3TKNM/ command

Just be aware you can get a memo for back pricing.

I did a separate PNR for a UA inf (parents were on an award ticket issued by SQ) it took me around 4 phone calls and 2 hours later they exchanged my ticket to an airline issued and then attached it

DL has been exchanging my INFs as well lately. But usually takes about 15 minutes. Probably less of a chance for ADM as well

I have a LY record going to exp today, I added a Y segment for next year it came in a new message that it exp 16 Nov but the 10 Nov exp message is still there. Does that mean it will exp today or 16 Nov?

SSR msgs are not removed by the system

I believe none. Only at check-in.
