3G data roaming in israel
« on: April 26, 2010, 11:56:56 AM »
Do any of the major US carriers have 3G\EVDO roaming in Israel (particularly Sprint)

If not is there other cheap way to get data on the go?

Sprint has but it's a fortune.
You're better off renting a Modem card.

Never heard of an unlimited data pack, where did you see that?
I'm fairly certain that I was able to use EV-DO on my sprint phone last year in Israel.  I can confirm that in a few weeks.

I used to have an unlimited data roaming plan, for blackberry on which I could theoretically switch to a laptop...

It was from Sprint.

I'm currently in Israel and I'm getting 3G service here from Cellcom (I'm on Sprint). You should note that Sprint's unlimted international data plan only works if you have a regular data plan back home, and not one of those "yiddishe" plans... I don't have a data plan back home but I got them to do it ("only this time") but YMMV.

It's an unlimited data plan. I don't think they have a fixed price for it. I pay about $2 a day for it but its worth it for me...

I signed up for the int'l data plan, it's $69/month (less my 20% corp discount=$55/month)
It's prorated for whatever days you want, so for my 3 days in EY it's under $6.

I'm online on my laptop now via #777 phone as modem tethering, speeds are OK, seems faster than 1x, but slower than 3G in the US.

why didn't you attach the chase or boeing corporates, they save you at least 5% more.

WARNING: They don't tell you this, but the international data plan deletes your previous data plan.

Had to fight like hell to get back my free unlimited data/sms/mms plan back!
