I'm traveling solo to Dubai in August. I would like to hook up with someone if that person also happens to be there at the same time. Is this the best forum for that or should I post it somewhere else? Thanks.

DDF is probably not where You would be "hooking up" with people.

I have actually seen people post on DDF, about such friendships. So one never knows.

There have been "hookups" coordinated from ddf (abu dhabi price mistake, and Dans recent Island hopper, though not sure 2nd one counts) and im sure many others...
You can post your dates and see if anyone pms you. There is also a for on tripadvisor dedicated to this

Dec 31: DXB - JFK (EK A380 F)

Will be in UAE from 10PM 12/29 to 2AM 12/31.
