So after reviewing the logistics of bringing in the food from NY the changed their minds and refused...
Asked to get in contact with the GM, and was instead forwarded to the head chef who agreed to keep the items in the freezer for us, as long as they can bring it to our room for us.
Let's hope they don't change their minds again!
You shouldn't have an issue, they may just have you sign some waiver. The St Regis in AD told me no on the phone, after speaking to the GM he said ok but I would need to meet him when i got there..... when i arrived the chef knew all about Kosher and went above and beyond in terms of service.

Well, thanks to yesterday's AC fares, looks like I'm taking my daughter to DXB!

Where to stay?

The Park Hyatt seems perhaps more elegant, but the Grand Hyatt looks more "fun."

Is that accurate?

Is either one geographically more desirable?

PH DXB was much more accommodating about storing and warming kosher foods than the GH DXB in our emails.
PH AUH is supposed to be amazing as well.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks. Points and cash (10,000 + $113) seems like a good deal.  Pretty excited about this!

Does anyone have any experience staying at, or even visiting, Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates? I know that @Yehoshua considered it but ended up at PH.

I stayed at PH AUH and it was incredible.

One of the best rooms we've stayed in.  Also had zero issues with storing our food.

I know Dan used Google Fi. Can I just buy a SIM card for my iPhone 6 or 7 at the airport?  What should I expect to pay for a 1 or 5 MB?

Yes, it's cheap.  When you exit the baggage room turn left and it will be on your left hand side.  Du is the carrier.

I realize there's wide personal variation in practice, but I am seeking advice for tipping in Dubai, particularly at the Park Hyatt.

Valet parking... 5AED? 10AED?

Bags to my hotel room... 5AED per bag?

How about when they bring my heated meal to my room?

Housekeeping?

Thanks.

Greetings from Dubai. Will try to do TR at some point, but wanted to shout out Arabian-Adventures.com.  Daughter and I did the morning dune safari, about $60 pp, great value.  Picked us up from hotel in well maintained late model Toyota Land Cruiser — very comfortable.  Four others pax picked up at their hotels.  About 45 mibutes to the conservation area. About an hour total pounding the dunes —. Very, very fun.  Do not do if you routinely get car sick.  Saw oryx, impala, and “land fish” (kind of lizard). Five minute camel ride — was plenty for us, just wanted the pic.   Ride down the dune on a snowboard. Could have done several times but once was fine for us.   Breakfast at the “camp” was from a French bakery — people seemed to enjoy the croissant and muffin.  The fruit cup was fair — a little nosh. Soft drinks and water.  They had coffee and tea but no paper cups so I passed.   I thought it was good value. Maybe the only down side is the drive to the conservation area 45 minutes each way, but that’s the nature of this deal.

Thanks.  Gotta also say that the Park Hyatt Dubai absolutely rocks (as others have said here).
