This has to be fake news, right?
http://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/drinking-a-glass-of-wine-on-flight-lands-dentist-daughter-in-jail/ar-BBLK3lv?ocid=ientp

I few with my 15-y-o daughter to Dubai last year. Carried a bottle of kosher wine (carefully chosen from US, not EY), no problem at all.  Customs and immigration people in Dubai were remarkably friendly and welcoming.

She was "dismissive and rude" to a government employee, started filming where it's prohibited. After this they deemed her to "be intoxicated in public". I assume you behaved differently.

I never had any problems in Dubai , I'm positive there are reasons she was treated this way.

I read somewhere that they are no longer letting dual citizenship Israeli passport holders. Is this correct? I was born in the US and hold a US Passport and an Israeli Passport. Will I have issues entering with my US Passport with a Hebrew name?

Why is this going viral now?
Because either the Israeli government or Emirati government wants it to

Is this a joke?
The problems in Europe are nearly exclusively from our cousins...

"Rabbi Sarna of NYU wonders at the notion that the first new Jewish community in the Arab world in hundreds of years might be growing just as Jewish communities in Europe and the US are grappling with threat levels unseen in recent decades, what he calls “the unique condition of world Jewry at this moment:”

“For decades following World War II, Jews thought the safest place for Jews to be was in a liberal democracy. And as the security and economic conditions deteriorate, we’ve come to a point when Jews from those countries will feel like they have a brighter future in an Arab country that is safe and economically prosperous, one where they don’t feel like they have to walk behind a bulletproof barrier every time they go to shul.”

FWIW, I was asked not to write about Chabad or Jews in Dubai in my TR. And I was told to always wear a baseball cap and tuck in my tzitzes.

What is true, is that Dubai is probably a safer place for a Jew than Brussels or Oslo. But mostly because its a police state and most people wouldn't even imagine there were Jews locally. The government is arguably friendlier as well these days.

All true, but still seems disingenuous.

I'm iy"H departing the maldives and landing in AUH at 11 pm on sunday.  Returning to NY at 1015 AM on tuesday morning which gives us 2 nights there and one day. I currently have both nights booked at the Al maha.

Does that make sense? Can anyone assist with ideas?

I don't have any first hand knowledge of any of those hotels.

Those hotels are all located an hour from Dubai and 2 hours from Abu Dhabi.

If you want to check out the cities it may make more sense to stay closer.

An hour drive is fine... I guess I should figure out what we want to go see that day, then work backwards...

So, any sightseeing destinations in mind?
