Really?

I spent 3 days there and it was the only thing I still talk about

Someone else I known just hired a guide for a 12 hour stopover and came back saying the same

Interesting. I arrive at 8AM. I guess I can have the EK chauffeur drop me off right there to start of the day...

It's close to 2 hour drive direction each way. You wanna waste 4 hours driving on the short time you are there.
While I am sure the mosque could be nice, I was not keen in shleping out to see a building, that most people worship and want to kill us

Google says 79 minutes.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Lol and you think most Europeans don't want to either?

You can do indoor skiing anywhere (including NJ next year) and going to the top of the Burj Khalifa is nothing special

Unless I'm missing something, the cheapest way to get into Burj al Arab is drinks at Skyview with a min spend of 320 AED p/p.

Am I missing something? :)

Opening has been pushed off till at least 2016. Had lawsuits regarding traffic.

If you put your mind to it you can think of ways to get in for free.....

BTW if your interested in the Burj Khalifa you can get in for free by going for drinks at the Atmosphere Bar on floor 122 IIRC. It's one level below the official observation deck and you'll save between $25-$100 pp. The windows may or may not be better for pic taking on the observation deck and you won't get a full 360 view from the Atmosphere Bar but IMO there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the 2.

Well, was thinking about just grabbing this:

http://www.cobone.com/deals/dubai/at-the-top-1-fast-track-ticket/32224

Fast track for $25 instead of $100, but I also wouldn't mind saving the $25 and using it for a drink at atmosphere... especially if I'm going to Burj Al Arab for free ;)

ETA:

Looks like there is a 300 AED min at the bar?  ???

Yes, that is officially true. My experience was that we just entered the bar, went to the windows towards the back where no one was seating and enjoyed the views and took pictures. No one approached us to make us order something and after about 15 minutes we left without any problems. It's possible they would enforce the 300 AED requirement but they would have to catch you at the entrance and make you sit down. Once you get to the windows they lost:)

I'll be in DXB for a day 9/21 - not my first time so I might consider the grand mosque this time. I already seen 2/3 of the largest mosques in Oman and Casablanca

Worth a day stop in my eyes, it's the less explored part of Muslim countries. And it's a sultanate which is cool (I am in the sultanate of Brunei as we speak)
