Nothing exciting, between the annual fees and the fuel surcharges you are likely to pay on the most popular partners, QF, SQ and DJ.

The AF is $900.
And it is not refunded if you get the points, even if you close immediately.
How worth it is that?
Australian MR do not have the same airlines partners as US MR.

Now amax offering 50k VA points when spending  $500 in the first 3 months.

Of course it comes with a heavy  annual fee of $349
But might be worth it.

Best Australian Credit Card is to get an AF-free AMEX card issued directly from AMEX, and add as many users as you can, and have fun with ongoing offers ;)
Rinse and repeat.

Rare opportunity to earn a great Signup Bonus transferable to SPG with an Australian Credit Card

AMEX Explorer 110,000 points
https://goo.gl/eEuZVL
[If you don't use the above link, the regular web offer is only 100,000 points.]

Key points:
• 110,000 MR Gateway bonus points after $1500 spend.
• $400 annual credit for use through the Amex travel site, bookable in any name.
• $395 annual fee, which is offset by the above credit.

110,000 points equals either:
• 82,500 Velocity Points
• 82,500 Krisflyer Points
• 55,000 Starwood points

This card also has one of the highest earn rates for your regular spend (2 points per dollar).
Of course, being an AMEX card, there are also many valuable rebate offers throughout the year.

No but they have some of the same transfer partners as us amex. They also go 2:1 to spg which isn't bad
