There is a mitzva to count
AFAIK that is only for שבעה נקיים where it says וספרה לה

IIRC there is a Teshuva from R' Menashe Klein regarding computerized Vestos, I don't think it is in משנה הלכות.

Its poshut that one can use a paper calendar. (There are only so many fingers and toes..) How can a digital one be worse?
Unless you say we can't rely on technology... That's why I'm looking for a reliable app possibly with a hechsher.

You can use a digital calendar to keep track but the calculations have to be made by you.

Why not just download the app straight from Google Play? Why the need for the apk? What am I missing?

That's how I was taught and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it inside. i can check later.

If there's a Mitzvah to calculate it makes sense that you can have a butler calculate but not a machine.

Why is it different than sefiras ha'omer?

For sefiras 7 the poskim speak out explicitly that sefira bepeh is NOT required. Though some form of active "counting" IS required.

For calculating vestos there is absolutely no requirement to have any formal counting system and therefore an app or assistant can definitely keep track for you.
This is just MHO. But I have gone through quite a few nidda seforim +tur sh"o and I don't recall any mentionu of a requirement to actively count vestos.

Obviously ask alor.  :)

Does anyone have an apk for Go SMS v5.x (the higher the better; 5.61 is the highest)? I updated to v6 and it's terrible, and I mistakenly overwrote my backup.
