On lots of phones you can rollback updates to individual built-in apps. You can try going to manage apps and clicking on the app in this case gmail and their may be a button that says uninstall updates where it would normally say uninstall for a app that you installed.

Gmail used to always automatically refresh on my android phone, every time an email arrived in my gmail inbox, I'd be alerted within a few minutes.

However as of the past few months I'm having to have to go into my gmail app and refresh the inbox manually.  Interestingly, I recently talked to someone who has a Galaxy - totally different company and model phone than mine, and they've been experiencing the same exact issue recently as well!

Anyone else?
Any advice?

FWIW, no such issues on my GNex.

Yeah, but I would have to change phones for that.
My original Gmail app is ICS off the bat.. I'd like to know if, somehow, I could download the GB version.

Doesn't sound right to me, I've never had issues (using  CM9/ICS). Are you sure sync is setup, and you've got enough memory on the phone?

If the low memory warning is displayed the phone might not sync by itself

it goes through users contacts and takes all the numbers to create a large database when you get a call it checks its database to see if the number is in there. (you sometimes could get a "dad" pop up) i hated it since it took every call and rerouted it through the app so my whole phone was choppy.

Many of these apps are very poorly written and very few if any actually work. I would stick to reputable companies.

And I'm not sure there are any caller ID ones that match the above requirement.
If anyone knows of one, even paid, please advise.

Why do you need an app for that? Isn't that standard?

Doesn't every phone check the contacts for matching number and display that name on caller ID?
