Unfortunately the Google Play Store doesn't really give us an option to do that. We are trying to build some sort of system where we would have that ability.
Wow.  Another area that Palm excelled in 15 years ago that Google has yet to catch up to. :P

What about just making the app free for everyone for February and have the app expire at the end of the month?
That would garner a whole lot of downloads and I'd imagine people would be much more likely to pay after using it for a few weeks.

They already have a huge following in the Apple App store, that they may not need that type of advertising. If they know they have a superior product, then just like with Apple they will become known as the best it will just take time.

Plus if they invested a year into this they may need some profits already and can't wait a month.

Nonetheless it would be a smart marketing scheme if they could and would get them huge exposure. Hope they do that :)

Unfortunately Hebrew support was pretty bad on Android until JB (4.1). ICS (4.0) made it usable, but the nikkud is still not perfect. Under 4.0 it just doesn't work well enough :(
And yet another place where palm excelled 15 years ago :))
I'm using 2.3 and I don't see anything wrong with the nikkud on the AndDaven app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saraandshmuel.anddaaven its very readable and I never had any prob with it.

Just found this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.jewishprograms.Tfilolari&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImluZm8uamV3aXNocHJvZ3JhbXMuVGZpbG9sYXJpIl0.

Basically takes all of 'jewish programs' Shiurim into one app. A few improvements are: Sefer Hamitzvos (which i couldn't find until now), original (Yiddish) version of Hayom Yom (all the other ones are the Hebrew version).

Just looked up the rusty brick siddur app.

It looks like it has the same functionality as the iPhone version, but I can't get over the fact that the font looks horrible. They should have used the iPhone font.

Unfortunately the way that our "Smart Siddur" works would not work with the way that AndDaaven gets the font to work.

The story of Android and Hebrew with Nikkud is pretty crazy. In versions pre Honeycomb you were able to use a custom font for Hebrew but the Nikkud was pretty bad. Then Honeycomb came around and they introduced a bug which prevents you from using a custom font on text that contains Nikkud (it just ignores the typeface and renders in Roboto). In ICS they fixed most of the Nikkud layout issues and in JB it seems to work perfectly, but the bug of not being able to use a custom font still exists.

The problem is that the issue is so low on the list of bugs that who knows when it will get fixed.

IMO, the font is one of the most important aspects of a siddur app. People like to feel like their praying with a regular siddur, not on some computery electronic device.

On the iPhone the rusty brick font won me over. On android, there are other siddurs such as Karri apps Smart Siddur, which works well, is free, but has a horrible font. I wouldn't switch over to pay for rusty brick unless there's a better font.

My 2 cents.

Yup. We are working on some work arounds and hope to have an update with a custom font, but there is no ETA yet.

Are there any apps out there that would turn on bluetooth only when I am near a saved connection (such as every time i get in the car) and turn it off when i turn off the car. On my BB i used to keep the bluetooth on all day and it didnt kill my battery.

I think all new bluetooth tech, 4 or 5 ?, will only turn on when near a saved bluetooth connection so it won't destroy your battery.

I have two alarms set for the morning- one for regular shachris, one for the late shachris. What would be a good way to set up my alarms so that the 2nd alarm doesn't go off in shul every time I forget to turn it off? I would prefer not setting the 2nd alarm to vibrate only.

Is this something for Tasker?

Maybe use "Shush!" when you come into Shul everyday?

If you can figure out a way to tell tasker your in shul, then tasker can mute the alarm for you. Maybe a location context or [lack of] wifi etc.
Another option would be to make a tasker widget that you can press before you go into shul to mute the alarm (but if u can remember to push the widget you can remember to turn off the alarm so not sure how this would help you ;D )
And yet another tasker option would be to have an elaborate (does that word fit in here?) tasker setup to actually make the alarms interact with each other I guess based on variables but this would be harder to set up.
Maybe use "Shush!" when you come into Shul everyday?

Yes its an app. But I'm pretty sure shush just turns on silent mode which would not silence alarms

Thanks for the tips!
I ended up finding a Jewish app that happens to have the feature I need. The app is called Shabbos Alarm, and it has the ability to set each  alarm to either override silent mode or to stay silent. So I  set up my first alarm to override silent just in case I leave it on silent before I go to sleep, and my second I set to not override silent. Since I don't forget to turn off my volume before shul, I should be set to go!
